Asian Games 2018: Hima Das’ Parents Could Not Watch Their Daughter Win Due To Power Cut

While the entire world celebrated Hima Das’ silver medal in the women’s 400m final at the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta, her parents could not watch their daughter perform live on TV beacuse of power cut at their home in Nagaon district Assam.

As soon the race started, the power supply went off in the village and her parents could not see her victory

Her parents Ranjit Das and mother Jonali are not disappointed that she didn’t win gold.

“What’s important is that her performance has been improving every day,” Das was quoted by India Today. In her yesterday’s run, she not only broke the national record, but also better her timing in a span of 24 hours.

Hima Das rose to fame last month at IAAF World U20 Championship in Finland where she won the gold defeating the world’s best in that particular category.
